A total of 1,428 students from the Solomon Islands National University (SINU) graduated at the Maranatha Hall in Honiara today.

The theme of the graduation ceremony is “Charting New Horizons: Our Stories, Our Futures”.

In his keynote address, the Minister for Education and Human Resources Development Hon. Tozen Leokana said that education is the most powerful investment we can make.

“Education is the most powerful investment that we can make. It builds healthy communities, stronger economies and a more stable society. Graduating students, your achievements today are not just personal milestones, they are triumphs for your entire nation,” he said.

He added that each diploma and degree enriches the intellectual wealth of Solomon Islands and strengthens its future.

SINU’s Vice Chancellor Professor Transform Aqorau said the graduation diploma serves as evidence of the knowledge and skills students have achieved during their studies.

“Your diploma is evidence of your knowledge and skills, but it is also a call to action. It proclaims that you are now among the educated citizens of our nation, and with that comes responsibility—a duty to a nation that now looks to you to invest in it.

“So in essence, do not ask what your country can do for you, but ask what you can do for your country with the education you have received,” he said.

Professor Aqorau, on behalf of SINU, congratulated the class of 2025.

This graduation ceremony marks the largest cohort of students to have graduated from the university.
