Gold production at the Gold Ridge Mine in central Guadalcanal is expected to resume at the end of this year or early next year.

Minister of Mines, Energy and Rural Electrification Bradley Tovosia on Tuesday told Parliament the Gold Ridge developer, Goldridge Community Investment Limited, is keeping pace with its given timeline to restart production.

A number of heavy plant machines are already at the Gold Ridge mining site to maintain the tailings dam, he said.

A plant audit, redesign and other activities will take place before gold production can restart.

Mr Tovosia anticipates that production will begin within 10 months.

“We expect gold bars to come out towards 2018 or the beginning of next year, 2019,” he said.
