HEAD OF CFC, REVEREND SIR IKAN ROVE DIES AFTER ILLNESS

The head of the Christian Fellowship Church His Grace, the Reverend Sir Ikan Rove has passed away yesterday after a long illness.

A member of the Church told SIBC News Sir Ikan Rove died at his home village in Duvaha, North New Georgia, Western Province.

Sir Ikan who was known by the title “Spiritual Authority” to his followers, took over the leadership of the CFC Church in 1984 from his father Silas Eto.

For almost 30 years he led more than fifteen thousand followers who live in more than forty villages in the Western Province.

To date, the church is the sixth largest denomination in the Solomon Islands.

In 2005, Sir Ikan was made a Knight Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire, KBE, in recognition for services to his country.

He is survived by his wife, four sons, a daughter and grandchildren.
