The Makira Ulawa Provincial Government warmly welcomes the roll-out of the Crime Prevention Strategy by the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) in the province.

A police statement says Premier Stanley Siapu made the statement during a visit to the province by the Commissioner of Police, Frank Prendergast.

Mr. Siapu says the provincial government looks forward to working even more closely with the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force.

He says Makira’s Council of Chiefs, Peace Council and village peace wardens network would be perfect partners for the RSIPF to ensure peace, law and order throughout the province.

Meanwhile, Commissioner Prendergast says working together with communities will tackle the drivers of crime – especially, alcohol and drugs, family violence, issues facing youths, and resource and environmental disputes.

He adds RSIPF officers will be out in the community, listening and conversing with leaders and members of the community.
