Rennell and Bellona Premier Collin Tesuatai has met with Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare where the two leaders discussed issues affecting the Province and its people.

At the meeting, Premier Tesuatai expressed his executive’s vision to restore and develop the province.

This includes taking back control over its administrative powers from the Ministry of Provincial Government following the suspension of the former executive last year.

The Premier also highlighted his province’s development needs – infrastructure development, transportation, health and education, natural resources and other services sectors such as tourism and commerce.

He told the Prime Minister, these are areas that touch the heart of the Rennell Bellona Province and people, but have not been seriously addressed over the years.

He said the Rennell and Bellona Provincial Government needs serious intervention and support from the national government if it is to deliver services and development to the people.

In his response, Prime Minister Sogavare expressed support and shared the Premier’s vision to develop the Province.

The Prime Minister acknowledged the issues raised and encouraged the Premier and his executive to work closely with the Central Government and their Member of Parliament to advance the interest of the province and its people.
