West Papua’s application to join the Melanesian Spearhead Group is among many issues to be deliberated on by the MSG leaders in their summit currently underway in Honiara.
This is according to the Director General of the MSG Secretariat, Peter Forau.
He said among the many issues to be discussed by the leaders are WestPapua’s application to join the MSG and Indonesia’s interest to be an associate member in the MSG.
Mr Forua made the statement to the local media in a briefing during the senior officials meeting of the MSG summit in Honiara.
“What’s happening now is that officials are going through some of the issues that will be tabled before the leaders next week including some of the programs that you’ll come across in the media yourselves, including the issue of West Papua, so that’s one of the main issues that our leaders will look at.”
