A total of 17 Nurses has graduated with Nursing Diplomas from the Helena Goldie Nursing College in Western Province today.

Confirming this to SIBC News, Government Communications Unit Director, George Hemming says the 17 nurses were also commissioned after their graduation.

Attending today’s graduation ceremony on behalf of the government is the Minister of Health and Medical Services Charles Sigoto, who urged the nurses to live by the profession.

Congratulating the nurses, he urged them to save the nation wholeheartedly, as Mr Hemming reports:

“In his speech or keynote address to the students Minister Sigoto said he congratulated the newly graduated nurses of Helena Goldie Nursing College and urged them to live by the profession and serve the country with their whole heart, as stated by the College motto whish is “Serving the Nation Whole Heartedly, so basically that is a key even of the college this morning.”

The nurses are now ready to join the nursing profession, serving throughout the country.

Today’s ceremony was also witnessed by the Ministry of Health and Medical Services Permanent Secretary, Dr Lester Ross.

SIBC News understands Prime Minister Gordon Darcy Lilo was supposed to be the guest of honour at the ceremony, but was unable to due to the Parliament sitting this week.
