AFP leaders share Christmas cheer with Fishing village community

Australian Federal Police (AFP) Deputy Commissioner International and Specialist Capabilities Lesa Gale, together with AFP Commander Hall O’Meagher, visited Fishing village in Honiara, sharing Christmas cheer with families during the festive season.

The community engagement event was made possible and hosted through the RSIPF and AFP Policing Partnership Program (RAPPP).

The visit brought RSIPF and AFP leaders together with community representatives to strengthen positive relationships with police and the community, particularly children.

Deputy Commissioner Gale and Commander O’Meagher spent time talking with children and community members, sharing Christmas gifts, and taking time to interact with the community.

A fishing village community representative said the visit was meaningful for families and children.

“We are very thankful for this visit. Having leaders come and spent time with our children and families, especially at Christmas, shows respect and care for our community,” the community representative said.

RAPPP Health, Wellness, and Community Engagement (HWCE) officer Roy Kimisi said “It is important for us to be a part of activity. It helps build understanding, trust, and good relationships between the community and our partners.”

The visit reflects the AFP’s ongoing commitment to working closely with communities and partners in the Solomon Islands through people-focused engagements.

The engagement concluded with shared conversation, smiles, and festive moments highlighting the importance of connection, partnership, and community spirit during the Christmas season.

More Christmas community visits are planned in the coming days as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen community policing and reinforce positive relationships with communities in Honiara.
