The Asian Development Bank has approved a $15.58 million project to help Solomon Islands rebuild transport infrastructure damaged by recent flash floods.

The assistance, drawn from ADB’s Disaster Response Facility, will help fund construction of new infrastructure designed to be more resilient against future disasters and other climate threats.

A statement from the World Bank says, ADB is financing more than $13 million of the project, while the Solomon Islands Government is contributing $2.36 million equivalent.

The Ministry of Infrastructure Development will be the executing agency for the project.
