Parliament is on special adjournment until next Monday.

Prime Minister Rick Houenipwela moved the motion at the end of this morning’s sitting and told Parliament the principal reason was to give additional time for the Public Accounts Committee to scrutinise the 2018 National Budget.

PAC Chairman and Member of Parliament for East Honiara Douglas Ete said he requested extra time because certain Standing Orders were not fulfilled when the budget department submitted the budget components.

“They come on a sporadic basis, and we did not receive the development budget until number 12, and still we have not received the teachers’ establishment,” Mr Ete said.

He said the PAC will submit a full report on the budget when Parliament reconvenes next week.
