BUDGET SET FOR STAGE 3 OFC WORLD CUP QUALIFIERS PREPARATION
In Sports, the Management of the Solomon Islands National Men’s Football team has set a budget of more than $2 million for their preparation ahead of the third stage of the OFC World Cup qualifiers.
The OFC’s third stage World Cup qualifiers will kick off in November this year for the Home and Away matches.
President of the Solomon Islands Football Federation (SIFF) William Lai confirmed this during a dinner at the Honiara Hotel last night that the boys will resume training next month.
Meanwhile, the Team Management said they are scheduled to play a friendly match with the Australian South Adelaide FC and Wolves FC next month at the Lawson Tama stadium.
The team has also scheduled to make a friendly match tour to Malaysia and Singapore in October before heading to Tahiti for their first Home and Away match of the OFC World Cup qualifiers November this year.
The $2 million preparatory budget will meet the team’s air travel, accommodation and meals, equipment, team welfare and contingencies.
Also in Table Tennis, the Solomon Islands Table Tennis Federation (SITTF) has yesterday donated tennis tables to Malaita and Isabel Table Tennis Associations in Honiara.
SITTF President, Aldrin Bekala handed over the tennis tables to Malaita Table Tennis Association President William Farobo and Isabel representative Frank Poura.
These were part of 40 tables handed by the Solomon Islands Government through Ministry of Home Affairs during the World Table Tennis Day in April this year.
The Federation will give tables to other provinces after establishing their Table Tennis Associations.
