Businesses and especially customers will be the ultimate losers of the tariff increase imposed by the Solomon Islands Ports Authority, says the General-Secretary of the Workers Union of Solomon Islands, Mr. Tony Kagovai.

Mr. Kagovai explains, ordinary Solomon Islanders will be made to compensate for the new tariff charges on goods and services.

“Don’t forget that the tariffs imposed will be thrown back at the consumers by the business houses so for you and me, we will be affected when we want to buy a bag of rice or an increase in the prices of noodles. They would increase the prices to recover their expenses to SIPA, so Solomon Islanders don’t be misled by the so-called reforms as you will be the affected.”
