Cabinet Reshuffle: New Ministerial Appointments Sworn In

Honiara, Solomon Islands, 05 May 2025 – A cabinet reshuffle under the Government for National Unity and Transformation (GNUT) was formalized this morning at Government House, where key ministerial changes were officially confirmed and sworn in by the Governor-General, His Excellency Sir Reverend David Tiva Kapu.

As part of the reshuffle, Honourable Jamie Vokia, MP for North East Guadalcanal, has been appointed as the new Minister for Commerce, Industry, Labour and Immigration, replacing Honourable Harry Kuma, MP for North West Choiseul, who has now been sworn in as the Minister for Finance and Treasury.

The reshuffle follows the formal revocation of their previous portfolios and reflects GNUT’s commitment to strengthening its leadership team to meet national priorities.

Other ministers were sworn in over the weekend, including;

Honourable Daniel Suilea Waneoroa, MP for North Malaita – Minister for Rural Development

Honourable Ricky Fuo, MP for Central Kwara’ae – Minister for Infrastructure Development

Honourable Derrick Rawcliff Manuari, MP for West Makira – Minister for Mines, Energy and Rural Electrification

Honourable Frederick Kologeto, MP for South Vella La Vella – Deputy Prime Minister, retaining his portfolio as Minister for Communication and Civil Aviation

Honourable Cathy Nori, MP for Maringe/Kokota – Minister for Women, Youth, Children and Family Affairs

Prime Minister Honourable Jeremiah Manele welcomed all new appointments, expressing his confidence in the ministers’ capacity to serve the country under the GNUT government and contribute to sustainable national development.

This reshuffle marks GNUT’s ongoing effort to ensure a responsive and capable leadership team to address the nation’s challenges and opportunities.
