The Curriculum Department has reviewed and developed 15 subjects, since working on the new syllabus for basic education in the country.

Acting Director Edwin Ha’ahoroa told SIBC News, they have reviewed 15 subjects so far, three for primary and twelve for secondary since 2010.

“At this time we have complete three primary subjects we started with at the beginning of the project, that is for primary science, primary social studies and primary health. The other 12 subjects for secondary, most of them will be completed at the end of this year. That is how we are looking at things maybe one or two subjects, because we do not have full time officers, they will be delayed until 2016.”

Mr Ha’ahoroa says the new syllabus was developed based on important knowledge and skills students will need after leaving the education system, and when they move on to University studies.
