The Democratic Coalition for Change Government wants the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) to become an effective police force again.

Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare made the statement yesterday when he visited the RAMSI GBR Base in Henderson.

Speaking to journalists after witnessing demonstrations by the RSIPF, Prime Minister Sogavare says he acknowledges the various assistance provided by RAMSI to rebuild the capability of the police force.

He also said his government desires to see the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force rebuild itself to become an effective police force again.

“We thank the RAMSI for coming in to revive the force again and we thank them very much and I guess it’s the desire of the Solomon Islands Government to see that the force will once again be the effective force like what it’s used to be before the ethnic crisis and I think that is clearly demonstrated by what we see this morning. We were treated to a display by the Fire Service and the Police Response Team.”
