Our Telekom’s Chief Executive Officer, Loyley Ngira has said economic development in Solomon Islands will gradually take place if accessible services are created.

Mr Ngira was commenting on the Central Bank’s 2013 Annual Report launch theme:
“Just get on with it and do it” in the context of the need to grow the country’s economy.

He says the very nature of providing access is not easy because they come with challenges such as land disputes.

But he says if access to services is provided, economic development will follow suit.

“But the challenge from my perspective is very simple. Do I wait for economic development to go there and then provide the service, or do I provide the service and then economic development goes there? So I follow the second and say let’s build the access, provide the service and then economic growth will follow, so hurry up and invest in those locations.”
