The Solomon Islands Electoral Commission, SIEC, and the Development Services Exchange, DSE, have successfully conducted a historic workshop for NGOs, Civil Society organisations, and rural based groups in Buala, Isabel Province.

A statement from the Electoral Office said the workshop covered vital information about the Biometric Voter Registration system, this year’s National Election and Coordination, Networking, Environmental Conservation, Management and Policing in the country.

SIEC’s Communication Assistant, Jimmy Isu said it was a great opportunity for the workshop participants to know more about the registration system and various processes leading up to the elections this year.

Women’s groups, church groups, village committees, provincial assembly members and interested individuals attended the workshop.

SIBC News understands, the SIEC was invited to talk on its functions, procedures and processes and to discuss the newly introduced Biometric Voter Registration System.
