Election date for Duidui ward set

The provincial election for Duidui Ward 8 in South Guadalcanal Constituency is set for 16 July, 2024.

Chief Electoral Officer, Jasper Highwood Anisi announced the date on Tuesday.

Mr Anisi explained the decision to postpone the election from the initial date on 10th July 2024 is due to bad weather conditions.

“The Commission has decided that 16th of July 2024 is the date set for the election for Duidui Ward.”

He said the Commission has exercised its power under regulation 67 of the Provincial Assembly and Honiara City Act to revoke that section and delay the election to 16th July 2024.

He said polling stations will open at 7am and close at 4pm on 16 July 2024.

Six candidates are vying for the seat after nominations closed on 28 May 2024.
