The European Union, EU, has announced its future support towards Civil Society Organisations, CSO, in Solomon Islands.

The announcement was made during the commemoration of the Development Service Exchange’s 30th anniversary Monday this week.

EU Representative in Solomon Islands Brenda Warren said the priorities for future support include, CSO governance and accountability, action to enhance social development and promoting sustainable growth.

“The priorities or the objectives of this support are the following; first CSO in governance and accountability, actions to enhance social development and in this case it would include advocacy and policy dialogue as well as social accountability and the third priority we’ll be looking at promoting inclusive and sustainable growth.”

Mrs Warren adds, the initiative is part of EU’s commitment to local CSOs under its 2014 to 2017 support program.
