The High Court has today vacated an application for final judgement against former Prime Minister Gordon Darcy Lilo for defamation.

The lawyer for the claimant in the case, Desmond Nimpo today told the Court to vacate his application.

Mr. Nimpo made the application in March last year after the former Prime Minister failed to turn up in Court and disclose documents on oath regarding the defamation case.

The claimant in the case is the General Manager of Russell Islands Plantation Estates Limited (RIPEL) John Whiteside.

Mr. Whiteside claims comments Mr. Lilo made about him and published in the Island Sun Newspaper in June 2013 has defamed his character.

The other defendants in the defamation suit are the Island Sun Newspaper and four of its journalists.

The case will appear again in Court for further directions on 11th August.
