FOREIGNER TESTED POSITIVE FOR COVID-19 IN WESTERN PROVINCE
A foreign national who arrived from a foreign vessel was tested positive for COVID-19 in the Western Province today.
The person is serving the mandated quarantine period in the foreign vessel outside of Gizo.
The Western Provincial Health Authority announced the result this afternoon.
It says, the person was tested positive during the third test.
Director of the Government Communication Unit George Herming reports, the person is among the crew members who arrived in the vessel.
Mr. Herming says, non of the crews went ashore since their arrival in the province.
He says, the Western Health Authority has activated its procedures to contain the virus within the vessel.
He adds, Health officers who attended the patient are currently under quarantine in an Island outside of Gizo.
People were advised not to panic as the situation is now under control.
