Gizo Community High School in Western Province held a graduation ceremony for its Year 12 and 13 students today.

The event was held at the school hall in Gizo, under the theme “Shaping Lives Through Education.”

The theme reflects on how far the graduates have come, and encourages them to look forward with hope to the bright future that awaits them.

In his remarks, the guest of honour and Speaker of the Western Provincial Assembly, Ramrakha Talasasa, highlighted the power of education in transforming lives.

“The more educated you become, the more advanced the tools you have to transform life. For example, education gives you the power to open doors to better career opportunities, to access a wider range of job prospects, and to achieve higher earnings.”

“Another example is that education allows you to discover yourself by enabling you to develop unique talents and interests, things you may have never dreamed of,” he said.

Meanwhile, School Principal Richard Hiva reminded the graduates of their roles as the school’s ambassadors.

“Today is your special day. It marks the end of one chapter and the beginning of another in your educational journey,” he said.

“As you step into the next phase whether it’s further studies, work, or other pursuits, remember this: you are ambassadors of Gizo Community High School.”

The presentation of the Dux Awards for both forms was followed by the granting of certificates and the cutting of a congratulatory cake.
