GOVERNMENT TO DEVELOP FIRST NATIONAL URBANISATION POLICY
The National Government will develop the country’s first ever National Urbanisation Policy.
Governor General Sir Frank Kabui revealed the policy when he delivered the ‘Speech from the Throne’ at the National Parliament yesterday.
Sir Frank said the policy will manage and control the rate of urbanisation in urban centres.
Meanwhile, the Governor General says shelter is an important contributor to decent family life.
He says the Government will support urban and rural dwellers build affordable dwelling housing.
This will be done through the Ministries of Lands, Housing and Survey; Infrastructure Development; the National Provident Fund and other partners.
The Traditional Speech from the Throne marks the opening of the second meeting of the tenth Parliament.
