Implementation of the Parish Agreement on Climate Change has been the centre of discussions by foreign leaders during the Pacific Islands Forum Foreign Ministers meeting in Suva, Fiji.

The discussions seek regional mechanisms to address issues relating to climate change and disaster risk management.

Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and External Trade Joseph Ma’ahanua told SIBC News, a framework has been developed to help address issues of climate change and disaster risk management in a coordinated way.

“There’s a framework being developed which will provide a strategy to embrace different international agreements that we can use to work through to address this issue in a coordinated way.”
