Incidences of high powered laser beaming on arriving and departing airplanes at night are reportedly increasing and police are working on finding those responsible.

Pilots who fly at night into and out of the Henderson Airport have complained of being beamed by high powered green laser lights.

The incidents happen immediately after take-off, and before pilots fully transition to transitional flight.

Police Commissioner Frank Prendergast told a media conference today he calls on Henderson communities to support police to find the people involved in this practice.

“And I am calling on everyone in the community to do their part in ensuring this doesn’t occur. If people in the community know the individuals who are doing this, they could let the police know so we can deal with it.”

SIBC News understands the Police are preparing to conduct awareness programs about the incidents to communities at Henderson.
