20-YEAR-OLD REMANDED FOR MURDER INCIDENT

A 20-year old man has been arrested in relation to a murder incident which happened at the Gilbert Camp in East Honiara on Monday.

Police Commissioner Frank Prendergast confirmed the arrest at a media conference today.

He said the suspect is now in custody while investigation continues.

Police have also arrested another murder suspect who has been on the run since 2011 in Tasimboko, East of Guadalcanal.

Police Commissioner Prendergast said the arrest was made following extensive negotiations with the community.

“We’ve also arrested a murder suspect whose been on the run since 2011, who was arrested on Monday evening following extensive negotiations and support from the community. The murder involved occurred in 2011 in Tasimboko area and that suspect has now been remanded.”
