Unhappy fishermen in Malaita’s Northern region are accusing foreign fishing vessels of taking away their source of income and are calling on the Government to do something about it.
SIBC’s North Malaita stringer John Andrew Kiri reports a lot of fishermen in the region are making a living out of fishing, especially when the price of other marketable commodities dropped.
He said the local fishermen also expressed disappointment that their previous calls were not addressed.
“They’ve made similar calls since 2010 until last year, but their calls fell only on deaf ears. That’s why they are calling again on the responsible ministry to take action”.
