Local tourism operators in the country have welcomed the appointment of Fiji-National Josefa Tuamoto as CEO of the Solomon Islands Visitors Bureau and say Mr Tuamoto can expect their full cooperation during his tenure in office.

A former Tourism Fiji chief executive, Mr Tuamoto is reported to be the catalyst for repositioning Fiji’s tourism internationally under the highly successful and very high profile ‘Fiji Me’ branding.

Speaking on behalf of local tourism operators in the Solomon Islands, a Eric Gemu from Western Province said local tourism operators are looking forward to working closely with Mr Tuamoto as CEO of the industry.

“I assure you that we will work closely with you during your tenure in office. Currently we are cruising on gear one, and we expect your good self to ignore gear two, gear three, gear four, and Cruz on gear five, no reverse, full throttle. You will realize later that potential for tourism in Solomon Islands is huge. And so I encourage you to go around and see for yourself to confirm what I have just said. And to conclude, I hope your staying with us will be enjoyable, which means I don’t want you to over work, and thank you”, he said.
