Makira Ulawa’s Provincial Minister for Commerce Martin Karani has called on shipping service providers to Makira Ulawa Province to ensure they engage licensed vessels.

“I would also like to call on the Government Ministries and other NGOs who are providing services to Makira Ulawa Province, to ensure especially in terms of chattering boats to deliver goods or services to our people; that the vessels you are engaging please make sure that the vessels have valid licenses to operate in the province. This is very obvious that government ministries and NGOs operating in the province are not complying to provincial requirements.”

He said vessel charterers must also comply with provincial shipping licensing ordinances.
