Minister Manele meets with Fiji’s Deputy Prime Minister

Solomon Islands Minister of Foreign Affairs and External Trade, Hon Jeremiah Manele held a bilateral meeting with the Fiji Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade, Cooperatives, Small and Medium Enterprises and Communications, Hon Manoa Kamikamica on 15 September, in Suva, Fiji.

Matters discussed during the meeting included the Solomon Islands and Republic of Fiji Air Services Agreement, a proposed bilateral security arrangement between the two countries and developments related to the WTO Fisheries Agreement.  

During the meeting, the Minister for Foreign Affairs and External Trade reemphasized Solomon Islands’ commitment to constructing a Chancery to house its High Commission in Fiji.

Minister Manele also highlighted Solomon Islands’ anticipation in welcoming the Pacific family, including Fiji, to the 2023 Pacific Games in Honiara from 19th November to 2nd December. 

Deputy Prime Minister Hon Kamikamica and Minister Manele also discussed preparations for the upcoming Forum Trade Ministers Meeting that will be held in Fiji in October 2023, where matters of interest in the region in relation to trade, will be deliberated.
