Members of parliament are one day away from electing the country’s Prime Minister.

The Prime Minister’s election will take place on Tuesday before the elected PM announces his cabinet.

At the close of nominations at 4pm on Friday, the Governor-General has received two candidates.

These are Manasseh Damukana Sogavare, the Honiara Hotel camp’s candidate, and Jeremiah Manele endorsed by the Solomon Islands Democratic Coalition.

Meanwhile, the political machinations continue to ramp up now that the governor-general has decided the election date.

In an earlier talkback show on SIBC the registrar of the Political Parties Commission, Calvin Ziru, says there is still some elements of unpredictability regarding which of the two political blocks will form the next government.

Mr. Ziru adds the stability that was hoped for when the Political Parties Integrity Act was passed earlier this year may still be elusive.
