The Solomon Islands Meteorological Services has issued an “NO TSUNAMI THREAT TO SOLOMON ISLANDS” statement following an undersea earthquake which occurred last night.

The 5.2 magnitude undersea quake occurred at 24 minutes to 11pm last night, near 443 kilometres East of Makira, Solomon Islands on a bearing of Latitude 10.9 degrees South and Longitude 166.0 degrees East.

The statement said there is no tsunami threat to the Solomon Islands and no further updates will be issued unless the situation changes.

Solomon Islands Meteorological Services issued the statement at three minutes past 11pm yesterday.
