North Malaita Constituency voters, are concerned the voter registration period this month will see eligible student voters missing out on their right to register and vote.

SIBC correspondent John Andrew Kiri reports from North Malaita, most of their students will be unable to register because they are away on boarding schools or in class.

He adds, this is denying North Malaita youths their constitutional right to vote in this year’s national general election.

Mr Kiri adds this is negligence on the part of the responsible authority.

“The registration timing, which starts eight days from now would exclude eligible student voters, which means they will totally be missed out on registration, and this is like dying their Constituntional rights not to participate. And this is also a pure negligence of their voting rights,” reported Mr. Kiri.

SIBC News understands voter registration begins on the 10th of this month.
