Our Telekom has yesterday announced major backing for the National Tourism Forum, scheduled to be held on August 29.

Our Telekom’s Chief Executive Officer Loyley Ngira said the company recognises the role tourism plays in the overall development of the nation’s economy.

Mr Ngira said since the tourism industry has been hyped to replace the commodities export when it declines, Our Telekom wants to assist this industry realises and monetises its full potential.

Presenting a cheque of 100-thousand dollars to the Forum’s Organising Committee, Mr Ngira said the company is excited to support the event.

“We turn potential into real gains and real value, especially for our operators all over the country, so Our Telekom is pleased to be able to support so that we can also deliver communications that will make our destinations very attractive.”

The cheque was received by the Director of Tourism, and Chairman of the National Tourism Forum Organising Committee, Barney Sivoro.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the National Tourism Forum Organising Committee says Our Telekom’s backing represents a significant development for the industry.

“I’d like to thank Our Telekom company, their board and management in seeing it fit to come and be part of the event as we know that telecommunication is one key aspect of our industry so what they have given as their contribution to help us is a very good gesture that we are sincerely thankful for.”

Barney Sivoro also explained, the funds will go towards bringing in Forum participants from the provinces and assist cover other costs.
