PM Manele visits PALM workers in Brisbane

Solomon Islanders working under the Pacific Australia Labor Mobility in Brisbane were honored with a visit by the Prime Minister Hon. Jeremiah Manele on Monday.

The visit to the PALM workers is part of the itinerary of the PM’s state visit in Australia.

The workers at Primo Foods were delighted to receive the Prime Minister and his delegation.

The Prime Minister used the occasion to acknowledge the government of Australia for the PALM initiative and further described the arrangement as a win- win situation for both Australia and Solomon Islands.

PM Manele reiterated that Solomon Islands benefited a lot from the arrangement through remittances.

The Prime Minister also conveyed deep gratitude to the Primo Foods for hosting Solomon Islanders in their factory.

Primo Foods Chief Operating Officer Jamie Eastley was at hand to welcome the Prime Minister and delegation.

After a brief welcome and presentation of gifts, Mr. Eastley led the PM for a factory visit.

The Prime Minister was given first hand insight into how Primo Foods produced bacon, hams, and small goods.

PM Manele was again greeted by a handful of Solomon Islanders who were on shift at the time of the visit.

The Prime Minister and his delegation were then given a taste session of the bacon, hams and small goods produced by Primo Foods.

The Prime Minister left for Canberra on Monday for other visit and is scheduled to visit Australia’s Humanitarian Logistics Capability (HCL) on Tuesday.
