PM Sogavare awarded PNG’s Honorary Grand Companion ‘Order of the Logohu’ for championing Peace in the Pacific region
Prime Minister Hon. Manasseh Sogavare MP, has been awarded the Honorary Grand Companion of the Order of Logohu award of Papua New Guinea.
This is the highest civilian award in Papua New Guinea.
The Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea, the Hon. James Marape made the announcement at the closing of the 3rd Forum for India–Pacific Islands Cooperation held in Port Moresby early this week. The award was in recognition of Prime Minister Sogavare’s role in the maintenance of Peace in the Pacific region and for encouraging friendly relations between the people of Solomon Islands and Papua New Guinea.
The Governor General of Papua New Guinea, His Excellency Sir Bob Dadae personally presented the award to Prime Minister Sogavare yesterday.
His Excellency Dadae was pleased to present the appointment and award of Honorary Grand Companion of The Order of Logohu to Prime Minister of Solomon Islands Hon. Manasseh Sogavare.
From the day the award was bestowed, the Prime Minister will now be known as Chief Manasseh Sogavare, stated PNG’s Governor General.
“The award is in recognition of you encouraging friendly relations between people of Solomon Islands and the people of Papua New Guinea, as well as maintaining peace in the Pacific region.”
Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare and members of his delegation returned to the country yesterday, 23rd May.
