PM SOGAVARE CONVEYED CONDOLENCES FOR SYDNEY SEIGE

Prime Minister Manasseh Damukana Sogavare has conveyed condolences on behalf of the Solomon Islands Government and people to his Australian counterpart, Prime Minister Tony Abbott over the hostage situation in Sydney.

The situation has resulted in the death of two innocent lives and injuries to others.

In a Government statement yesterday Mr. Sogavare said he learnt with great sadness the news of the hostage situation that unfolded in Sydney and on behalf of the Solomon Islands Government and people, he wants to register his profound condolence to the Australian government and its people.

Mr. Sogavare said he understood the pain of the loss of loved ones and seeing loved ones suffer. He pray that the Almighty will give them strength and comfort in this very difficult time.

The Prime Minister adds he has every confidence in the capability of Australia’s responsible authorities to ensure those who carried out these acts of terror, resulting in unnecessary deaths and injuries are brought to justice.

Honourable Sogavare also declared the Solomon Islands Government’s acknowledgment for Australia’s tireless efforts towards the fight against terrorism in Australia itself, the Pacific region and the world at large.
