The Parliament has passed the Political Parties Integrity Bill 2014 late Tuesday evening.

The Bill which is now an Act provides for the Registration, Administration, and Development of Political Parties.

It is also to promote Integrity in Political Party operations for related matters and to make consequential amendments to the National Parliament Electoral Provisions Act.

The Political Parties Integrity Bill 2014 has a total of 73 clauses and was passed with amendments.

The Act is to ensure an enabling environment for sustainable economic development.

It is also to ensure that politicians and aspiring politicians maintain integrity and a culture of respect for the office they hold and the power they exercise on behalf of the people.

The government believes the achievement of political integrity is indispensable to the achievement of sustenance of political stability in the country.
