Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare has said Don Bosco’s aspiration to do good resonates with the Solomon Islands Government’s policy intention of providing quality leadership to deliver a meaningful quality of life for all Solomon Islanders.

Speaking at the Don Bosco bicentenary celebrations in Honiara yesterday, Mr Sogavare says he is delighted to have Don Bosco’s Rector Major, Father Angel Fernandez Atime SDB present in the country for the celebrations.

“Rector Major, Don Bosco’s aspiration to do good works resonates with the Solomon Islands Government’s policy intention of providing quality leadership to deliver a meaningful quality of life for all Solomon Islanders. To that end, I am very delightful that you are present with us to commemorate the 200th birth anniversary of a great leader.”

The Prime Minister adds, the fact that the Rector Major continues to stand for what John Don Bosco stood for 200 years ago is exciting and a worthy cause.

“The fact that you are the 10th successor of Don Bosco and continues to stand for the very concerns for young vulnerable people that John Don Bosco once stood for albeit 200 years ago is both exciting and a worthy cause. I therefore, salute you Sir for being blessed with such leadership qualities that continue to advance that great tradition.”

The celebrations took place at the Don Bosco Technical Institute at Henderson in Honiara.
