The Solomon Islands Visitors Bureau (SIVB) Chief Executive Officer, Josefa ‘Jo’ Tuamoto has welcomed the decision by the Solomon Islands government and its Fijian counterpart to end the impasse between the two countries airlines – an outstanding issue since last July.

In a statement, Mr Tuamoto says the lifting of the impasse is important as it had impacted strongly on international visitor arrivals in Solomon Islands, particularly the sensitive US market.

Mr. Tuamoto says as the new government announces its intention to further explore its US tourism market this year, SIVB views it as potentially one of Solomon Islands strongest source markets.

Mr. Tuamoto adds the tourism plan will boost SIVB’s international marketing program, involving key local stakeholders – building a stronger US profile.
