SAVE THE CHILDREN SOLS STARTS ITS PROGRAM
Save the Children Solomons has started its awareness on the Community Child Protection Project in communities around Guadalcanal province and in Honiara.
The project formerly known as the Child Advocacy Project is now the Community Child Protection Project since it established two new programs – the positive discipline and early intervention programs.
Project Team Leader Gillian Oti said the project aims to empower children to make their own decision, and to increase their knowledge about their rights and participation in communities.
“Another objective is also to empower children to make their own decisions and to have a voice or voice out the issues that affects them in the homes, communities and also under this objective we are also working with children to increase their knowledge on knowing their rights and also to identify the child protection issues like child abuse and so on”, she said.
Ms Oti adds since the establishment of the project in 2012, Save the Children Solomon have identified that most children have learn to know their rights with their parents and voice out their ideas within families.
The project is a four years project funded by the Australian NGO Cooperation Project.
