The Hograno, Havulei, Kia and Katova Advocacy Forum Committee in Isabel Province has invited the Anti-Corruption Network of Solomon Islands to its first community leadership forum.

The theme of the forum is “Quality Leadership for Quality Life” and will be hosted at Samasodu this Thursday, and at Kia on the first of next month.

Chiefs, elders, women, and youth are expected to attend the workshop which will feature educational awareness on corruption as a severe bottleneck to economic development in the country.

Acting CEO Barnabas Henson says A-N-S-I sees corruption as an issue of national concern and is working in collaboration with the people through its new educational awareness initiative.

Mr Henson says the initiative aims to empowering people and strengthening indigenous democratic institutions and networks through the sharing of information and knowledge.

He says, it is very important to have well-functioning institutions of democracy and active people participation to fight corruption.

The expected outcomes of the workshop will be a model community development plan that will incorporate anti-corruption strategies, and having a better informed electorate that is able to make well-informed choices in the forthcoming national general elections.
