Chair of the Melanesian Spearhead Group (MSG) Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare has reminded the MSG Secretariat of the theme of the 20th MSG Leaders’ Summit.

The theme of the summit held in Honiara in June was “Let’s Build a Strong Melanesia in the Pacific where Peace, Progress and Prosperity are Ensured for All.”

A government statement said Mr Sogavare made the reminder during his inaugural visit to the Vila-based secretariat office, where he was treated to a grand welcome by the Director General Mr Peter Forau and his staff.

The MSG Chair says the theme entrusted a collective commitment to ensure the Melanesia sub-region is peaceful and stable to facilitate an environment where the objectives of development agendas are realized for the progress and prosperity for all Melanesia people.

Mr Sogavare adds, the theme also shows true Melanesia declaration of its commitment as good corporate citizens in the region, fully mindful of its duty as members of the Pacific family of nations.

Mr Sogavare calls on all MSG countries to appreciate the founding fathers of the MSG sub-regional grouping as MSG countries are strategically located and blessed with the potential to achieve these objectives.
