Solomon Islands forge connections for Tourism Development through participation in the 10th Arab – China Business Conference

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia hosted the 10th Arab – China Business Conference from 11-12 June 2023. Solomon Islands Minister of Foreign Affairs and External Trade, Hon. Jeremiah Manele was invited to participate by His Excellency Khalid Al Falih, Minister of Investment, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The 10th Arab – China Business Conference held under the theme “Collaborating For Prosperity” was a bringing together of business persons and private sector from the League of Arab States and China forging of business connections and exchange of business ideas and partnerships.

The Conference included discussions on clean energy and renewable pathways to emission reductions, tourism and entertainment for diversification, food security and agriculture the key to unlocking development, industrial mining and minerals, resilience in logistics, supply chains and infrastructure, to achieve solutions of common interest for both Arab nations and China through strategic collaboration.

In the margins of the conference, Hon. Jeremiah Manele held bilateral meetings with Mr. Zurab Pololikashvili, Secretary General of the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO).

Solomon Islands is currently not a financial Member of the UNWTO. The meeting paved way for further discussion on Solomon Islands national tourism development and opportunities of cooperation with the UNWTO.
