The Solomon Warriors, Solomon Islands’ OFC Champions League representative, defeated New Caledonia’s AS Lossi 6-1 in their second Group B match today in Papeete, Tahiti.

A goal from John Alick, two goals from Kensi Tangis and a hat-trick for striker Gagame Feni ensured a comfortable win and gave the team confidence after their first-game loss to Vanuatu’s Erakor Golden Star.

The Warriors’ striker and Vanuatu international Tangis opened the scoring just 80 seconds into the game after collecting a ball from a defensive error from AS Lossi.

Feni doubled the lead in the 30th minute, and Tangis got the third goal eight minutes later.

The Warriors’ midfielder Alick scored the fourth goal one minute before half-time to take the game to 4-0 in favour of the Warriors.

AS Lossi managed to pull one goal back in the 70th minute, but their celebration was short-lived after Feni scored the Warriors’ fifth goal from a chipped ball outside the penalty box.

Feni scored the Warriors’ sixth goal and completed his hat-trick with a long-range shot from outside the box one minute away from full time.

The Warriors will now take on Tahiti champions the AS Dragons on Sunday.
