Competing in one of the first events of the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games, Solomon Islands’ Tony Lomo came up against the strong challenge of Razak Abugiri of Ghana but was unfortunately defeated.

Fresh from the excitement of the Opening Ceremony the night before, Tony was happy with his performance, saying he did well and have to stick to the many rules that kept changing, but he added he tried his best and did well.

Reporters’ Academy reports Tony previously competed in the London 2012 Olympics, where he was defeated in the third round.

Comparing the Commonwealth Games to the Olympics, Tony acknowledges the level of competition, saying it is tough but good him, adding the second level of the sport is the Commonwealth games then the Olympic level.

For the rest of the Games, Tony is looking forward to watching the rest of his fellow athletes in his category, and then will take the time to watch other sports.

After the games, Tony is looking forward to competing in Russia and potential training in Australia, to further develop his competition skills.
