TROPICAL DISTURBANCE WATCH ADVICE FOR SOLOMONS
The Solomon Islands Meteorological Services has issued a tropical disturbance watch advice number eight this afternoon.
The tropical disturbance watch advice is in force for most provinces.
At 11 am this morning ex-tropical cyclone Raquel with a central pressure of 999 hectopascals was located 8.0
degrees latitude South and 161.8 degrees longitude East.
This is approximately 63 nautical miles Northeast Mana’oba in Malaita province and 67 nautical miles Northwest of Sikaiana and is moving Southeast at 05 knots.
The MET Office says, the system is expected to intensify with winds possibly increasing to 35 knots in the next 24 hours.
It warns, heavy rain which can lead to flash flooding and landslides can occur over most of the provinces during weekend.
