Unvaccinated Public Servants will no longer attend their workplaces
Public Servants who have chosen not to be vaccinated will no longer attend their workplaces.
This is effective today, Monday 1 November 2021.
Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare made this announcement in his fortnight Covid-19 address this afternoon.
“As of today, 1 November 2021, public servants who have chosen not to be vaccinated will no longer attend their workplaces.
“I still call on and hope that these public servants will reconsider their positions and receive the Covid-19 vaccination that most public servants had taken,” Prime Minister Sogavare said.
However, the Prime Minister adds, the government will respect their decision if they wish to remain unvaccinated and they be put on half pay with no benefits from today till end of January 2022.
But he said, if they remain unvaccinated by the end of January 2021, they will self terminate their employment.
“If they get vaccinated between today and the end of January 2022, they will return to the workforce.
“However, if they remain unvaccinated by the end of January 2022, they will self-terminate their employment with the public service,” he said.
