United States of America has assured Solomon Island of its preparedness to support the country conduct a smooth and fair national general election this year.

State Secretary John Kerry told Prime Minister Gordon Darcy Lilo during a brief dialogue at the Prime Minister’s office yesterday, United States is prepared to support Solomon Islands ensure a democratic election processes.

The United States also offered to provide scholarships for local students to study in America, and to invest in the health sector.

Both leaders also agreed to work towards declaring Bloody Ridge as a World Heritage Site which will boost Solomon Islands tourism travel.

Secretary Kerry also agreed to consider Prime Minister Lilo’s request to open a US Embassy in Honiara.

The US Secretary of State spent about four hours in the country before leaving for Hawaii, late yesterday afternoon.
