Western Province Agriculture Division came under heavy criticism after farmers learnt no agriculture extension officer is being posted at Korovou, Shortland Islands.

SIBC’s Shortlands stringer, John Kotaru reports, farmers lack  up to date agriculture information and funding allocated for cocoa, livestock and piggery projects from the Ministry of Agriculture.

Kotaru says the post has been vacant for about ten years.

“The Agriculture Division in the Western Province under the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock has come under heavy criticism by farmers in Shortland Islands. It has almost been ten years since no Agriculture Extension officers were posted to Korovou in the Shortlands.”

Kotaru adds farmers call on the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock to immediately post an Agriculture Extension officer to Korovou.
